What an assistant can see in Orphi

This page lists exactly what a connected AI assistant can read and change in your Orphi account, and what it never receives.

You choose which assistants to connect, and you can disconnect each one at any time in Settings, under Connected assistants. Orphi's full privacy policy is at useorphi.com/privacy.

What an assistant can read

Every connected assistant can read these parts of your account:

  • Your target language, your level and its range, what you can say, what you are working on, sounds to watch, your streak, and how many cards are due.
  • Your lessons, with their cards, example sentences, recordings and reading passages.
  • The cards and saved words that are due for review.
  • Your saved words, when it searches them.
  • A short summary of each of your last five calls with Orphi: the topics, the words you practised and what you said about your life and goals.

Orphi builds every answer from a fixed list of fields, so a new piece of data in Orphi never reaches an assistant by accident.

What an assistant can change

An assistant can change your data only after you turn on Allow changes for it. It can then:

  • Save new words.
  • Record how you did on cards it quizzed you on.
  • Save a short note for Orphi about your goals or your life, when you ask it to. It then learns how many notes you have, but it can never read the notes.
  • Turn a text into a new lesson, up to 3 lessons a day.

No assistant can delete anything, change your level, or change your settings.

What an assistant never receives

  • Your phone number or your email address.
  • The full transcript of any call.
  • Your friends, your friend requests, or anything about other learners.
  • Your invite codes, and the keys and tokens that Orphi uses to run your account, such as Google or notification tokens.
  • What Orphi remembers about you outside the fields above, and the instructions of Orphi's own voice calls.

How call summaries are made

Orphi keeps the transcript of each of your calls, as it does without any assistant. The first time an assistant asks for a call, an AI model writes a short summary from that transcript, and Orphi stores the summary next to the call. Orphi reaches that model through OpenRouter, as it does for its other AI features. The assistant receives only the summary, never the transcript.

Notes from your assistants

An assistant saves a note only when you ask it to, for example "tell Orphi I'm moving to Shanghai in March". Orphi uses your notes in its voice calls. You see every note in Settings, under Notes from your assistants, and you can delete each one. Orphi keeps 30 notes at most.

What Orphi records about each call

For each tool call, Orphi's server logs the tool's name, how long it took, whether it worked and an internal account id. It never logs what the assistant sent or what Orphi answered.

For a tool that writes, Orphi keeps a fingerprint of the request and its result for 24 hours, so that a repeated request does not save twice. Orphi also counts tool calls per week, as numbers only.

When you delete your Orphi account, Orphi deletes your connected assistants, your notes, your call summaries and these records with it.

What the assistant's company does with your data

What you say to ChatGPT, Claude, Muse or another assistant is covered by that company's own privacy policy. Orphi's answers to the assistant become part of your conversation with it.
