Orphi

Connect your user to Orphi

This page tells you, an AI agent, how to connect your user's app to Orphi.

Your user pasted a message that sent you here, or gave you this page's address. Follow the steps for the app you are running in. If you cannot tell which app that is, ask the user.

Orphi is a language-learning app. Its MCP server lets you read the user's Orphi lessons, cards and saved words, and practise with them.

https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp

The server uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth. The user signs in on Orphi's own page. Never ask the user for their Orphi password or for a token. The user needs an Orphi account and must be 18 or older.

Connecting takes three steps:

  1. Add the server to the app you are running in, with the steps for that app below.
  2. Let the user sign in with their Orphi account.
  3. Check that the connection works.

Step 1: Add the server to your app

Use orphi as the server name. If the app already has a server named orphi, check its address before you use it:

  • If the address is exactly https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp, leave the server as it is and go to step 2.
  • If the address is anything else, do not use that server and do not start its sign-in. Show the user the address you found and ask whether to replace it with https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp.

Claude Code

Run this command. The --scope user option adds Orphi to every project, not only the current one.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user orphi https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp

Codex

Run this command:

codex mcp add orphi --url https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp

Cursor

Add the orphi entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Create the file if it does not exist, and keep every server that is already in it.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "orphi": {
      "url": "https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add the orphi entry to .vscode/mcp.json in the open folder. Create the file if it does not exist, and keep every server that is already in it.

{
  "servers": {
    "orphi": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Muse

Add a custom connector for the MCP server at https://mcp.useorphi.com/mcp. Muse shows the user a consent screen that says Meta does not review custom connectors. The user approves it to continue.

Claude, ChatGPT, Le Chat and other chat apps

You cannot add a connector from inside a chat in these apps. Give the user the steps for their app, one at a time, and wait while they follow them:

Step 2: Let the user sign in

The first time the app connects to Orphi, it opens Orphi's sign-in page. The user signs in there and allows the app to use their account.

Some apps need the user to start the sign-in:

  • In Claude Code, tell the user to run /mcp, choose orphi, and sign in. If orphi is not in the list, they restart Claude Code first.
  • In Codex, run codex mcp login orphi. If you cannot open a browser, tell the user to run it in their terminal.
  • In Cursor and VS Code, tell the user to start the orphi server from the app's MCP settings if the sign-in page does not open.

Step 3: Check the connection

Call get_learner_overview. It returns the user's language, level, streak and number of due cards. Tell the user what it returned, in one or two sentences.

A new connection can only read the user's Orphi data. To let you save words, review results, notes and lessons, the user opens Settings in Orphi, goes to Connected assistants and turns on Allow changes for your app.
